Trench Coat Weather

With the crazy weather that we’ve been experiencing here in Australia everyone seems to be at a loss of what to wear and how many layers they should have on hand. Is it sunny, muggy, cold, rainy? Or all the above?

As we settle into Autumn, there is one staple wardrobe item that should be at the top of your list: The Trench coat. A garment which came about from the First World War and has remained relevant for more than 100 years.

This ageless coat is the perfect outfit topper for windy, rainy or chilly days and remains both practical and chic as proven by luxury fashion house, Burberry, known for their iconic Trench coats.

Here are some of our favourite ways to style the Trench Coat.

  1. Over a black midi dress

Whenever you don’t know what to wear, this outfit can be your new go-to. A simple but fitted black knit dress to give you shape and a classic trench coat. There is nothing cooler or chicer. Add a pair of heeled boots and a wool hat and you’re ready to go to the office, out to dinner or run errands around town.

  1. Printed and feminine maxi skirt

If you’ve been in the situation where the weather has ruined your outfit plans, then this one is for you. Add a neutral, soft wool trench over a flirty and feminine maxi skirt and ribbed tank and problem solved!

  1. Leather shorts and knee-high boots

This look is quintessential cool girl. A pair of IRO leather shorts paired with knee-high suede boots and a knitted V-neck white jumper. Use the belt from the trench to give yourself a teeny waist and those knee-highs will be giving you legs for days.

  1. Classic denim and a crisp cotton shirt

Adding a trench over your favourite pair of Autumn denim and a crisp white, cotton shirt will take your whole look to the next level. Throw on your favourite shades and a little bling and you will look put together, without having to try.

  1. Tailored pant and a silk top

A classic combo with a funky twist. We’ve styled these fabulous IRO harem tailored pants with a Theory white silk tee and added a chunky sandal to make it more daytime and casual without dropping the cool factor. Topped off with a navy Theory trench, this look is sartorial perfection.
